European Social Fund

The European Social Fund (ESF) focuses on skills and training, and providing employability support to help people facing barriers to securing work.

New Anglia LEP coordinates the £40m European Social Fund programme in Suffolk and Norfolk in collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions. The ESF programme offers a range of employment skills and training opportunities delivered through local projects. Details of current initiatives below.

The European Investment Strategy sets out the programme priorities, and shows how they link to the Norfolk and Suffolk Economic Strategy.

SPARC Pathway Training Fund

The Pathways Training Fund (PTF) provides grants to SMEs & Social Enterprises, including Community Interest Companies, in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Sparc Pathways 50+

Pathways 50+ is a programme supporting local SMEs, as well as individuals aged 50+ looking for quality paid work placements.

Youth Pledge for Employers

A bespoke support service for Norfolk & Suffolk based SMEs to help create job inspiration events, work experience and employment opportunities for 16-24-year-olds.

Supply Chain Skills Development Fund

We will support you to identify the staff competencies and capabilities needed to fully capitalise on opportunities resulting from specific investment and large-scale infrastructure projects happening across Norfolk and Suffolk.

Co-designed New Anglia Technical Curriculum

The project is part funded by the European Social Fund, led by City College Norwich, working in collaboration with College of West Anglia, East Coast College, Suffolk New College and West Suffolk College.

Chances provides health and employment support to unemployed and economically inactive people across Norfolk to help move them closer to the labour market.

RYPE is a distinct Youth Pledge pilot project for rural areas of New Anglia, focusing initially on the market towns across Suffolk and those bordering Norfolk.

The project is part funded by the European Social Fund, led by Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils, working with local colleges and other partners

Apprenticeships New Anglia (ANA) is an innovative project, part funded by the European Social Fund. ANA is led by Moore Networking Limited (MNL), an ISO and IiP accredited local company with decades of experience in project management and developing business networks.

NASCENT 2.2 (New Anglia Skills Convergence Enterprise Network for Training)

NASCENT 2.2 is all about bringing SMEs closer to the ‘training table’, encouraging them to get involved in influencing the curriculum.

Routes to Work supports unemployed people in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Waveney who are newly unemployed or close to the labour market.

Skills Support for the Workforce provides redundancy support and training for businesses in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Minding the Gap

Minding the Gap supports anyone aged 16-24 in Suffolk, who is currently not engaging with employment, education or training.

On Track supports 16-24 year olds in Norfolk who are unemployed, and not in education or training.

Opportunity Suffolk

Opportunity Suffolk supports adults over 24 in Suffolk who have not been in paid work for at least three months.
