Routes to Work supports unemployed people in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Waveney who are newly unemployed or close to the labour market. The project is run by East Coast College, with a number of specialist delivery partners including with Access Community Trust, ACE Training, DIAL, and Voluntary Norfolk.

Routes to Work offers 1:1 mentoring, advice and support to help people progress into work or training. Support is often short and intensive focussing on a specific area of need, such as interview skills or writing application forms.

Many of those we support have been affected in some way by Covid-19.

The project team works with a network of trainers, community groups, and businesses to help people gain new skills, and confidence to reach their employment goals.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund.

Following her time engaging on the project, Susan said ‘Support from Routes of Work came at just the right time. I had some interviews lined up in a sector I had never worked in before. I was worried that I wouldn’t know how to answer the questions. The support I got from my Employment Adviser was tailored to my exact needs and we focused on preparing for my interviews. I went into the interview with some confidence and an understanding of what they might ask. And it worked! I was offered the job the same day as the interview. I don’t think I would have been able to do it without the support I received from Routes to Work.’
