Opportunity Suffolk works with anyone aged 24+, who access services in Suffolk and who has not been in paid work during the last three months.
The aim is to help build an individual’s skills and confidence and to address their challenges in moving into employment or training. Specialist advisers work on a one-to-one basis with participants, offering intensive, targeted support including personal development support, training, and employability support and signposting.
The partners are Anglia Care Trust, Green Light Trust, Inspiring Aspirations, Leonard Cheshire: Sharing Parenting, Suffolk Refugee Support and TCHC who:
Support a range of challenges including physical disability, learning difficulties, mental health, confidence, self-esteem and social skills development
Specialise in guidance for parents and carers, refugees and ex-offenders
Help to address issues such as debt management, substance misuse, domestic violence and
Daniel said, “I wanted to get paid work. I felt sad as I’d tried to get work and wasn’t getting anywhere.”
Daniel’s mum said: “Daniel is not happy about the job, he is delirious! He hasn’t stopped dancing and jumping up and down.”
The programme is funded as part of the Building Better Opportunities by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund.
