Students from four high schools will learn about recruitment and put their skills to the test at a mock assessment day.

About 35 students from Framingham Earl High School, Wymondham College, Fakenham Academy and Archbishop Sancroft High School will spend at day at Jarrold Training in Norwich on 10 January.

They will be put through their paces by taking part in group discussions, interviews, presentations and problem solving tasks.

They will be observed throughout the day by volunteer assessors from the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network who will provide each student with constructive feedback. The day is being organised by Jarrold Training with South Norfolk District Council, and is supported by the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network.

Elliot Symonds, Business Development and Management Trainer at Jarrold Training, said: “This will be a challenging but fun day for the students. They’ll have to take part in group tasks, give presentations and interact with new people, hopefully replicating what a real assessment day would involve.

“It’s a great way for them to learn more about the realities of applying for and getting a job.”

South Norfolk Council Cabinet member Yvonne Bendle said. “This is a valuable opportunity for students to experience what will be expected of them when they start applying for jobs. Hopefully after attending the assessment day they will be much more confident when it comes to the real thing.”

Volunteer advisors from Arnolds Keys, Reef Recruitment, Edmundson Electrical, Brancaster House, Osiris, Beechmont and New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership will be helping on the day. Jarrold training will be hosting the event using one whole floor of their Grade 1 listed training facility in Norwich.

The New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network matches senior business leaders with secondary schools and colleges to increase student encounters with the world of work and support the development of schools and college’s employer engagement plans.
