Job vacancies in healthcare, food production and other sectors are being promoted by New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership as part of its coordinated response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Opportunities at more than 125 businesses from farms and supermarkets to care homes and logistics firms are being advertised on the LEP’s website to help them find the staff they need to continue operating.
Labour demand in food production, food supply, supermarket retail, transport and delivery services is outstripping current supply and a national initiative branded #FeedTheNation has been launched in a bid to keep these essential services running.
Companies facing the most pressing challenges are being identified and the LEP is working closely with them to assess the support they require.
Details of redeployment opportunities in Norfolk and Suffolk and beyond are being collated and signposting provided for interventions such as benefits, training and mental health support. A list of organisations that can provide mental health support is being drawn up and will be made available to businesses and residents.
Large-scale redundancies are being fed into Steadfast Training, which is working with the National Careers Service to offer 1-1 careers advice over via telephone or online meetings, and the LEP is working with partners to support colleges, universities and private training providers.
Efforts are also ongoing to ensure vulnerable people are given help to return to work promptly or supported by education providers and the voluntary sector.
Chris Starkie, chief executive of the LEP, said: “It is absolutely critical we help businesses access the workforce they need to continue operating through this crisis, and we are doing everything we can to ensure people in need of work are signposted to these vacancies.
“Jobs being offered by more than 125 different employers are currently being advertised on the page we have created on our website and we are working with our partners to keep this fully up to date.
“We would urge businesses with vacancies to get in touch with us so we can promote them as widely as possible, and people who are looking for work should keep checking our website.”
