An Ipswich design agency has moved into video production after securing a Covid support grant from New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership.

Creative Monarchy partnered with an electric transport business in Bristol to promote its new eco-friendly range of scooters with a short social media video – and it has been delighted with the results.

An iPhone and other equipment were purchased after the company received almost £3,000 from the LEP’s Wider Economy Grant scheme. The initiative, funded by the European Regional Development Fund, has awarded a total of £251,853 to 95 projects in Norfolk and Suffolk.

“EcoMove has a branded scooter range and was looking for a slick promotion to run on social channels to draw attention to their benefits and a sales promotion they were running,” explains Director and Web Designer Mark Chaskelson.

“We partnered with them to nab a few choice shots and blend them with our own footage shot on the iPhone that New Anglia helped us procure. The video alongside the website campaign increased their scooter sales by 700% over May, making this breakout project a great success for both parties.”

On the heels of this project, the scooter manufacturer commissioned the business to make a 17-second YouTube advert that would run only in the Bristol area and publicise its bicycle repair service. Creative Monarchy decided on a fun clip, produced in just one day, and it has proved a big hit. The video attracted more than 15,000 views in the first two weeks, with an average viewing duration of 99.6%, and EcoMove’s repair service was inundated with bookings.

Mark says the experience has whetted the business’s appetite to explore other video opportunities. “The grant we received has made it possible for us to expand into this area and we are hungry to ramp up the production value, deep dive into more post-production techniques and grow as a video production agency.

“We were super grateful to start on the less formal platform of social media, as it gives us some wiggle room to improve our skills and grow into more traditional mediums. But we are happy to be breaking into the social advertising space for now.”
