A specialist plastic coatings firm has invested in new equipment thanks to a grant from New Anglia LEP.

Peerless Plastics and Coatings, based in Thetford, provides a range of enhanced protective hard coatings for application on to various types of plastic.

The company has upgraded existing plant and purchased new equipment with support from New Anglia LEP’s Business Resilience and Recovery Scheme.

The Business Resilience and Recovery Scheme was launched in spring 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and supports short-term business resilience projects and longer-term recovery and diversification projects. The scheme has already allocated grants of more than £5.2m to projects across the region.

Managing Director Peter Llewellyn-Stamp said: “Investment has been made with the view to further improve quality, efficiency and production capacity, together with making us a greener company through reduced energy and product usage, as part of our commitment to reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

“Included within our major investment programme we have fully refurbished our automated, cleanroom coating line, upgraded our spray control systems, incorporated the latest Anti-Static and particle filtration technology whilst adding to our existing printing and fabrication capabilities.

This latest phase of our investment programme required significant funds and this grant from New Anglia LEP has greatly helped to contribute towards to costs.”

Chris Starkie, Chief Executive of New Anglia LEP, said: “I’m pleased to see Peerless Plastics and Coatings investing in new machinery to improve efficiencies and reduce their carbon footprint.”
