Chris Starkie, Chief Executive of New Anglia LEP, said:
“The Prime Minister’s remarks about the need to press on with Sizewell C are welcomed by the LEP. Large-scale projects that can deliver for our economy are needed more than ever and Sizewell C can do that on many levels. It will generate enough low carbon electricity for six million homes, create thousands of jobs, benefit the supply chain, and contribute to a higher performing, clean and inclusive economy.
“We appreciate the need to be sensitive to the concerns of local communities. However, this is an important stage and we cannot afford for it to be delayed as other significant energy projects have been before, as it will prevent our economy from fulfilling its full potential and hinder our ambitions around clean growth.”
