Volunteers from Flagship Group have been helping young people find out about career options thanks to the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network.

The Bright Futures day at Taverham High School saw 90 Year 13 students learn about choices after leaving school.

The day was delivered by volunteers from Flagship Group’s Learning & Development and HR team and was supported by young people who recently gained employment with them on their Degree Apprenticeship Programme.  The day gave the students the opportunity to:

  • understand their choices after leaving school;
  • overcome barriers using strategies shared by the apprentices;
  • understand the labour market and how to maximise every opportunity in securing employment; and
  • develop skills that employers value.

Flagship Group’s Director of People & Places, Lisa Collen, has been working closely with Taverham High School’s Assistant Head, Paul Rapley and their Careers Lead, Arlene Warwick as part of the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network programme to deliver the event.

The New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network recruits senior business leaders to work voluntarily with secondary schools and colleges as Enterprise Advisers.

Lisa Collen said “Collaboration between educators and employers makes a huge difference and the Flagship Group is delighted to be working in partnership with Taverham High School to support this.  The event created opportunities for our own staff to develop skills and experiences in facilitation, problem solving, time-management, training techniques and presenting skills and it was a pleasure to see the engagement and benefits the students gained from the day.”
