The Haverhill Arts Centre was packed with over 150 students plus parents
for an ‘inspire’ event to increase student’s awareness of opportunities and
routes available to them in their future career choices. A short labour market information (LMI)
presentation was provided by the New Anglia LEP discussing the importance of LMI to young people
and the key growth sectors in New Anglia. It also touched on apprenticeship growth and
English/Maths scores compared to the East of England the rest of the UK. There were 20 different
stands representing many sectors including public services (Police), sport, engineering, finance,
further and higher education. A Year 10 student from Samuel Ward won a laptop computer in a draw
provided by SJP Construction, a contact of Samuel Wards Enterprise Adviser, Norma Odain-Hines
with Wates Construction. The Castle Manor catering students made and served a delicious variety of
canapes for all attending to enjoy. business attendee stated “I’m very pleased to hear
apprenticeships being discussed with students and the positive growth happening in New nglia.”
