Welcome to the autumn term newsletter for the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network. Below
you will find news and updates from across the region.
New Anglia EAN Update
Some real progress has been made towards achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks in the new
academic year 2019/20. As the Government's 2017 Careers Strategy states “Every school
should begin using the Gatsby benchmarks to improve careers provision now, and meet
them by the end of 2020”. Currently for New Anglia, the average number of benchmarks
achieved is 3.75 against the national average of 3.0, highlighting an over achievement against
the national average. However, there is still work to be done.
The LEP's draft Local Industrial Strategy was submitted to the Government in September and we
are closely aligning the Network to its recommendations to support the skills demand across the
region. More than 119 schools and colleges have signed up to the Network and more than 125
volunteer Enterprise Advisers from 19 different industries are helping our schools achieve the
benchmarks and increase employer engagement.
Thank you to all our stakeholders for their continued support and commitment to achieving
the eight Gatsby benchmarks and improve careers education across New Anglia. We wish
you an enjoyable festive period and all the best for the new year.
New EAN Website
Over the summer, the team updated our website to ensure there is relevant and useful
information for our schools, colleges and volunteers to use. One exciting new feature is
benchmark case studies, which highlight examples of benchmark best practice that have taken
place over the last calendar year. This section will continue to be updated throughout the year.
Currently, topics covered include;
· Staff CPD
· Employer talks
· Careers fairs
· LMI activities
There is also a series of 'I love my job' profiles which can be used by careers coordinators,
careers leads, subject teachers and EAs. These showcase the career pathways taken by local
people across a wide variety of sectors, and the educational and vocational routes they have
taken to achieve their current role.
Our new-look website will keep you up to date with activities from across the region, local and
national resources and aims to support you to the achieve the benchmarks. If you would like to
contribute a case study or complete an 'I love my job' profile, please contact Ashley Ruthven.
Compass & Tracker
Please remember to update your Compass and Tracker tools
each term. Compass is an effective way of helping you evaluate
your school/college’s careers activity against the Gatsby
benchmarks. Don’t forget to tick the box that will enable you to
share your entry with your EC.
Tracker is a great way of helping you plan, track and evaluate all
future activities. Please contact your Enterprise Coordinator if
you would like any help with Compass or Tracker.
This term, the CEC launched Compass+.This complete Careers
Leader dashboard, linked to your MIS system, enables schools
and colleges to more effectively track and manage their Gatsby
performance, careers programme and employer engagement.
