A Suffolk company’s investment in a new website and ordering process is paying off, with online orders up by a quarter and now, a prestigious industry award.
ASAP Supplies Ltd picked up the prize for best business website at the recent Marine Trade Association Awards, part of the London Boat Show.
Beccles-based ASAP Supplies distribute boat parts to customers worldwide. In 2014, the company was granted £45,000 from New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growing Business Fund, towards a £230,000 project to develop a new website, creating 6 new jobs in web design and distribution.
The site went live in early 2016, with new features including higher quality images with a ‘zoom in’ function, improved product search and stock checking and a new ‘live chat’ system.
Shaun Wigley, Managing Director of ASAP Supplies Ltd, said: “We’ve seen a massive rise in customers visiting our site – and not just visiting, but also ordering, with web sales up 25%.
“It’s such of a proud moment. The team has worked so hard to get this right for our customers and now their hard work is paying off. We are always looking for ways to improve the customer journey and we will continue to develop the site with the latest technology to do just that”.
Chris Starkie, Managing Director of New Anglia LEP, said “ASAP’s website project is a continuing success story. Not only did the company fulfil the requirements of its Growing Business Fund grant in creating high value jobs, but their business has benefitted, adding value to the industry and our region’s economy. Their decision to put customers first has rightly been recognised by the Marine Trade Association.”
