The New Anglia LEP team is responsible for the day to day running of the Local Enterprise Partnership. This includes supporting the New Anglia board, delivering its strategy, liaising with Government, identifying activities to support jobs growth, securing funding and engaging with the business community.

Simon is the LEP's Skills Manager. His main focus is on programme management of the New Anglia Skills Bootcamps Programme, the Government's training and recruitment initiative designed to help address workforce and recruitment needs. In addition, Simon works on wider skills and labour market activity, working with the Norfolk and Suffolk Skills Hub, the joint skills resource between Norfolk and Suffolk County councils and the LEP.

This HPO outlines our offer in 5G and future network infrastructure and the opportunities for businesses in cybersecurity, satellites, AI, data centres, software development and quantum technology.

Angela is an Enterprise Coordinator with New Anglia Careers Hub, working with schools to help them achieve their 8 Gatsby Benchmarks for careers guidance and support and recruiting employers to work with schools to enhance and enrich their careers guidance and learning. Previously she has managed an ESF contract called Pathways 50+ and the STEMNET contract in Norfolk on behalf of the University of East Anglia. Angela has also worked on a number of other government contracts such as Skills Support for the Workforce, Train to Gain, and Skills Support for the Unemployed. She has also worked in business development supporting apprenticeships, especially in construction and engineering which is her area of expertise.

Scale Up Adviser - New Anglia Growth Hub High Growth Team (Leader)

Over the past 30+ years, Theo has successfully provided Business Development Coaching, Mentoring and Leadership & Management Training to hundreds of UK businesses under several government initiatives including the Growth Accelerator Programme, Business Growth Service, ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) & BEST Growth Hub’s Scale Up and Adaptation Programmes. With a particular focus on helping companies with their strategic planning, Theo has guided many businesses towards capitalising on growth opportunities and helping them identify and address internal constraints. Theo has a distinctive passion and aptitude to disseminate knowledge and experience gained from many successful years in both the corporate and SME sectors. This included global marketing responsibility for 13 international brands as well as assisting many smaller companies through two recessions, experiencing all aspects within the highs and lows of business. His extensive business mentoring enabled him to be recognised as one the North West’s leading and respected Business Coaches. In 2017 Theo piloted the highly successful Scale Up Programme in Essex and in 2020 he developed and introduced the Business Assessment & Adaptation Programme, with an exclusive Pivoting Assessment Tool, to help businesses with the difficult decisions on what, and how, to adapt following the pandemic impact. Moving to Suffolk mid-2020, Theo now applies the same passion towards helping businesses as part of the New Anglia Growth Hub team.

High Growth Adviser - New Anglia Growth Hub High Growth Team

Josh’s career started as an apprentice for BT Openreach before studying Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Management after which he moved into sales and then recruitment culminating in the setting up of his own business pre-covid. In recent years Josh has been applying his knowledge of the skills space working in the NFP sector on the RESTART programme prior to working for the New Anglia Growth Hub. Across his career he has worked with regionally focused micro businesses through to large international organisations although he always carries a soft spot for an SME. He is passionate about business and the local economy and is looking forward to supporting businesses across Suffolk to achieve their potential and help drive positive sustainable business growth in the region.

High Growth Adviser - New Anglia Growth Hub High Growth Team

Robert has a long career history of business development, sales and marketing, business advice and staff training and development. Since 2011 he has worked as a business improvement specialist/mentor and joined the Growth Hub at its inception in 2014. Robert is also the Growth Hub’s Small Firms Development Initiative (SFEDI) Programme Leader. All of our staff are qualified (or working toward) SFEDI accreditation. Robert manages this training process and supports and assess all students.

High Growth Engagement & Events Officer - New Anglia Growth Hub High Growth Team

Jo spent many years working for her family’s outside catering business ‘Diana Barnard catering’. During her mid-twenties, she took a break in hospitality and joined the British Government department Oversea Development Administration as a logistics consultant; who seconded her to UNHCR in former Yugoslavia during the Balkan war and then UNICEF in Rwanda during the Genocide. Upon Jo’s return to the UK, she had a short spell in logistics before returning to the family business in 2001. The business was rebranded to Barnard Catering Ltd and Jo continued to work for the company during busy spells whilst also working for local marketing guru’s Helen Oldfield and Gina Long. From here, Jo moved to Woodhall Manor as events manager and then joined the management team at The Orwell Hotel in Felixstowe. Having spent two years as the Growth Hub’s Events Coordinator, Jo became Business Growth Support Adviser before taking on the new role of Engagement Specialist. Jo is also the Chair of Felixstowe Rowing Club and Vice Commodore of Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club. She is also a volunteer for the Parish Pantry at St Johns Church in Felixstowe.

Ellie comes from a hospitality and customer service background, having worked as a waitress and supervisor in multiple restaurants and event venues in Essex and London. She graduated from Greenwich university with a degree in events management in 2020. After having to put her career on hold due to Covid, she implemented all she had learned by organising and delivering all Growth Hub events and helping the Scale Up New Anglia (SUNA) team and Norfolk and Suffolk businesses succeed and achieve their goals.

Senior Business Growth Adviser - New Anglia Growth Hub Norfolk Team (Leader)

Chris has a sales and marketing background and has worked for a number of large international businesses. In 2001, he set up a spin out company with two academies from University College London, offering a range of contract research services to the biotech and pharma sector. This company quickly grew, was relocated to Cambridge and eventually merged with another business. Chris worked as an independent consultant for several years offering business and marketing advice to local businesses before joining the Growth Hub in 2014.

Anthony’s career has covered a variety of occupations, including practical farming, government administration, education, self-employed rural business consultancy, rural project work, managing an environmental assurance scheme and training businesses in the UK, Europe, and sub-Saharan Africa. He is passionate about business sustainable development and helping businesses succeed. He has worked with UK and international rural businesses, both large and small, giving them bespoke advice and helping them to progress with their business aims and objectives. With a mature attitude and approach to life, including a sense of humour, coupled with experience from a range of different backgrounds, Anthony is looking forward to helping the businesses in Norfolk and Suffolk gain access to the skills they need to thrive and grow.

David has a varied professional background including accountancy, sales and marketing working mainly within audio and lighting markets. He has over 20 years of international business experience, exporting to more than 90 countries and managed to visit over 40 of them (so far). David joins New Anglia Growth Hub after taking a career break to travel and develop his acting skills in a number of films. He says it really is an honour to meet such interesting business people who are managing diverse and exciting companies with remarkable plans. It is an even greater honour to be a part of their journey and to try to help them along the way.

While James does not come from East Anglia, his love of the area goes back to the time he studied Hotel and Catering Management at the Norwich City College, of which he has some very fond memories. After college James worked for several years in various management roles within hospitality, across Australia, the UK and the Caribbean. James’ corporate career has taken him into several different sectors working in operations and new store development, for an international coffee chain, facilities management for a national leisure company, senior project management roles within retail store development. James spent some years in the Netherlands working for an international supply chain company specialising in supporting retail store development projects, covering key account management for major international organisations across the EMEA region, whilst also being responsible for regulatory compliance and process improvement. On returning to the UK James developed several start-up businesses within the energy efficiency sector most recently specialising in Lighting Services. “What excites me about my role is the opportunity to use the knowledge and experiences I have gained with the goal to ultimately add value to the organisations I am working with.”

In 2015, Jamie graduated from university with a degree in Graphic Design and for two years worked as a self-employed Graphic Designer and part-time for a design agency based in Ipswich. Jamie joined the New Anglia Growth Hub in 2018 to assist with the processing of ERDF outputs and work closely with the Adviser team to ensure all paperwork was collated. In 2022, Jamie moved his extensive experience into the Engagement Team and is now one of the Growth Hub’s frontline Advisers. Jamie has recently been awarded his Level 5 SFEDI qualification in Business Support.

Mags joined the TSB Bank straight from school and then spent 20 plus years in the insurance and financial services sector. Most of that time she worked for Cunningham Lindsey, the leading loss adjusting, claims management and risk solutions company ending up managing the marketing team. Mags gained her Lloyds insurance qualifications and Chartered Institute of Marketing Professional Qualifications whilst working in the financial services sector. In 2011, Mags became self-employed and worked on a number of projects including managing courses for overseas teachers of English to attend educational courses in the UK. She joined the Growth Hub at its inception in 2014 and has moved from an administration and financial support role to managing the Engagement Team. Mags brings a vast experience of best practice, standards and compliance, which port across to other roles to drive up quality and impact and she has achieved her SFEDI Level 7 Award in Understanding Business and Enterprise Support (equivalent to a Masters degree) whilst working with the Growth Hub.

Hayley has a strong background in administration and business support services having held an administrative supervisor role at a specialist automotive relocation company dealing with the administration of taking cars to large automotive events and auctions all over Europe. Her positive and personable attitude supports her attention to detail and organisation as well as building relationships with key customers and contacts. Her work in the events industry has provided her with experience in multi-tasking and hitting multiple deadlines. Hayley joined the Growth Hub in October 2020 to help run the Peer Networks Programme and had experience processing the ERDF outputs. She has now started her new role as part of the Engagement Advisers team and is looking forward to a new challenge.

She will also be brokering key initial links with employers who require training or can offer guaranteed job interviews to successful candidates. In addition, she will be liaising with council colleagues, DWP, educational providers, external stakeholders, Growth hub advisors and businesses to promote the project. This role supports the New Anglia LEPs Skills Advisory Panel’s commitment to upskill the existing workforce throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.

Nicky leads and supports on Clean Growth projects such as Industrial Decarbonisation, developing strategies, identifying challenges faced by businesses and opportunities for solutions, collaboration and knowledge sharing. She also works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to develop and drive forward Net Zero initiatives around Norfolk and Suffolk.

Rosanne is responsible for the day to day running and development of New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership. Working closely with the Board, Rosanne guides the strategic direction of the LEP, ensuring it retains its focus on creating jobs and removing the barriers to economic growth. She also enables businesses in Norfolk and Suffolk to have a voice at the highest possible level, by representing them at Westminster and liaising with key influencers on the topics that are important for our region.

Projects and programmes include the Growing Places Fund and the Growing Business Fund and business support activity including the New Anglia Growth Hub. This role supports the LEP’s commitment to improving the match of skills provision from the public and private sector, to better meet evolving local economy demand.
