Development sites and investment opportunities across Norfolk and Suffolk will be showcased at MIPIM UK this week.
The East – bringing together Norfolk and Suffolk – will be represented at MIPIM UK, which takes place at Olympia, London, on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 October.
Visitors at the exhibition will be able to meet representatives from local authorities, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and business leaders from the two counties.
Twenty-seven sites will be profiled at this year’s event, ranging from mixed-use and commercial developments to opportunities on New Anglia LEP’s Space to Innovate Enterprise Zone sites.
The East’s presence at MIPIM UK highlights investment and development opportunities, as well as profiling the region alongside other areas of the UK, including the Northern Powerhouse and Midlands Engine. The event is attended by a Government representatives and ministers as well as delegates from across the UK and the world, with a delegation from China planning to visit The East’s stand during this year’s event.
The stands will host two events to showcase the best of our region. On Wednesday, investors will be able to find out about doing business in Greater Norwich at a networking reception at 3:30pm. On Thursday at 11am, delegates will learn more about on-going development opportunities across both counties, with presentations about business growth at the Beacon Park site in the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Enterprise Zone and the development of the Winerack on Ipswich Waterfront.
Chris Starkie, managing director of New Anglia LEP, said: “MIPIM UK is a prestigious event and it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to sell our area.
“The development of the new Economic Strategy for Norfolk and Suffolk has highlighted the need to be ambitious and shout about what we have to offer, from our world-leading business clusters to our beautiful countryside and coastline, and events like this are a great way for us to do that.”
Chilton Woods, near Sudbury, has plans in place for a residential-led mixed use scheme. The project includes plans for 1,150 homes and 15ha of employment land, a primary school, local retail, village centre community woodland and supporting infrastructure.
Cllr Andrew Proctor, Chair of the Greater Norwich Growth Board, said: “Greater Norwich is thriving and growing fast. We have huge investment opportunities as well as a raft of financial and business support incentives. We want companies at MIPIM UK to invest now and become part of our journey.”
Cllr Colin Noble, Leader of Suffolk County Council said: “I am really pleased that Suffolk will be attending MIPIM UK in London again. The event provides us with a great opportunity to showcase the sites available for development in the county and to talk to potential investors about our fantastic business offer.”
The event follows the success of MIPIM UK in 2016, which led to over 150 leads for opportunities in the region and a number of positive follow-up meetings. This included visits to look at potential housing, hotel and office sites and one business which attended the event moved into new office space in Ipswich.
