Students from Fakenham Academy have been learning about one of Norwich’s most well-known firms.
15 students visited Aviva’s Norwich office to learn more about the company and the job roles available. The visit was organised by Paul Grainger, Operations Transformation Lead at Aviva, who is the Enterprise Adviser at Fakenham Academy.
The youngsters were treated to a personalized tour of Marble Hall and a peek into Aviva’s archive, which included looking at descriptions of property addresses used prior to postcodes.
They then learned more about some of the careers available at Aviva, including presentations from staff in the company’s legal, procurement, HR and project management teams. Students were active in asking questions and were interested to learn the different routes they could take into roles.
Paul Grainger, Operations Transformation Lead at Aviva and Enterprise Adviser, said: “I’ve been working with Fakenham Academy for most of this year, supporting the development of their employment engagement strategy and identifying some tangible actions to help bring this to life.
“We quickly came up with the idea of organising a student visit to our Aviva offices to learn more about the insurance industry. It was great to see the students actively engaged, asking some very good questions and taking away a lot of food for thought. I’ll definitely be organising another one of these visits in 2018”.
Joanne Stone, Learner Mentor and Pupil Premium Engagement and Aspirations Mentor at Fakenham Academy, said: “We all had a wonderful, insightful time and can’t thank Aviva enough for their generosity and well prepared and structured input and presentations. Our students learned so much and all benefitted hugely. Taking part in such a prestigious visit will certainly have increased their knowledge and improved their self-esteem.”
