European Investment Strategy (ESIF)
European Structural and Investment Funds are one of the tools of the European Union designed to improve economic growth and social well being across Member States. Structural and Investment Funds cover a wide range of activities, all designed to improve economic competitiveness and employment.
In April 2013, Ministers wrote to Local Enterprise Partnerships to confirm that most, but not all, of the €6.2bn of EU Structural and Investment Funds available to the UK for 2014-2020 would be notionally allocated to Local Enterprise Partnerships to be invested in local growth strategies.
The UK Government invited Local Enterprise Partnerships to develop strategies for use of the European Structural and Investment Funds in their local areas. New Anglia has been allocated around £94m (€110.8m) of EU funding for investment in Norfolk and Suffolk. This amount covers the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
Our Strategy is the result of a considerable amount of partnership working, with input from many organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors. We have also consulted widely and thank everyone who has contributed to the Strategy.
