The Eastern Institute of Technology (EIoT) is an innovative education solution to ensure our businesses have the highly skilled technical workforce they need for future growth.
It builds on the strengths of the East’s competitive clusters (engineering, energy, ICT and digital, advanced manufacturing, agri-tech and construction) and addresses the identified skills requirements for businesses in these sectors. Research has shown a real gap in future provision, so our proposal to create the EIoT offers opportunities for learning in real-work environments using the latest equipment and technology.
The project is led by West Suffolk College and New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership with local Further Education colleges – Suffolk New College, Easton and Otley College and College of West Anglia. The University of East Anglia and the University of Suffolk also support the bid.
We have successfully progressed to the second stage of the EIoT bidding process and we are looking for businesses to help us develop this bid. With that in mind we are holding employment engagement events to encourage more businesses to get involved and help benefit young people early on in their career development.
The next session will be hosted by Suffolk New College and New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership on Friday 16 November at BT Adastral Park, Martlesham, 8.30am – 10.30am.
