BA Business Management student Ryan Bedwell-Woods attended the International Aviation Academy Norwich’s first anniversary celebration while on work experience with New Anglia LEP. He reports from the event:
“Chris Starkie, Chief Executive of New Anglia LEP, spoke at the event. The LEP contributed £3.3m towards the academy from its Growth Deal with Government.
Chris talked about how collaboration between the LEP, the local authorities, education and the aviation industry has been key to the academy’s success. He went on to say how it was important to enable the young people of our society to have exciting prospects. This will have an impact on the global economy, also developing a strong international reputation.
The other speakers at the event had come from local councils, KLM UK Engineering, Norwich International Airport and Chloe Smith, Norwich North MP – who said that it takes “hard work to get to the stars.”
The speakers focused on the fantastic opportunities which the academy provides for local young people.
The day sent the message of the industry’s high ambitions for growth with young people at the forefront.”
