Senior members of the Department for International Trade’s Aerospace team have visited Norfolk to explore new opportunities to expand the industry in the East.
John Thompson, Head of Aerospace at DIT, led a team on the visit, organised by Norfolk County Council. The delegation’s first stop was the International Aviation Academy-Norwich (IAA-N). Opened in September 2017, IAA-N is a joint enterprise between the Aviation Skills Partnership and Norse, with partners from industry, education and local government. The Academy creates a world-first ‘real world’ learning environment that includes a full size aircraft. IAA-N is equipped to provide training to 400-500 students in Aviation Engineering, Cabin Crew and Airport Operations.
The delegation heard presentations from KLM UK, UEA, Norwich Airport, Mirus Aircraft Seating, SaxonAir, City College Norwich, Micross, New Anglia LEP and Broadland District Council.
The visit continued at Scottow Enterprise Park, the former site of RAF Coltishall, with a tour and presentation from Swift Aircraft.
