Ipswich Vision
Ipswich Vision is a partnership project which aims to deliver a single Vision to create the successful county town centre which Ipswich and Suffolk expect and deserve.
A revised vision has been launched in March 2021 with the ambition to make Ipswich the UK’s first connected town centre. Find out more about it here

The projects include:
Regeneration – We will set out measures for redeveloping key sites in the town and promote Ipswich as a prime location for new homes, businesses and retailers, to a national and international audience. We will support jobs growth across the town and in the Enterprise Zones in particular.
Transport – We will improve access to the town centre by all modes of transport to help improve the accessibility, viability and vitality of our town. We will deliver the Wet Dock Crossing and remodel the Star Lane Gyratory.
Shopping – We will target new retailers and restaurants to the town centre and work with building owners to improve shop units and shop fronts. We will identify ways of improving our historic market and will run a digital high street pilot.
Public Spaces and Public Buildings – We will bring forward proposals for the improvement of town centre streets, renovate key public buildings like the Town Hall and improve the station and station forecourt. We will do more to attract visitors into the town and celebrate the town’s heritage with a new heritage centre on the waterfront.

Case Study: Regeneration of Cornhill
The £3.6m project was coordinated by Ipswich Borough Council on behalf of the Ipswich Vision Group. It was funded with £1.65m from New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growth Deal with central government, £1m from Ipswich Borough Council, £900,000 from Suffolk County Council and £50,000 from Ipswich Central.
The transformation features new paving, a raised central area with a water feature. Four new trees have been planted, and the Four Gateways provide an interesting focal point to the plaza. The Gateways represent the original gates into medieval Ipswich and each one reflects an aspect of Ipswich Life and its heritage.
