Links between the University of East Anglia and Chinese manufacturer Wolong LDG have been strengthened following a visit earlier this month.
Wolong has invested in the Laurence Scott site, which employs over 150 people in Norwich making bespoke high voltage electric motors for oil and gas, nuclear power and defence markets.
Dr James Han, Vice President of Wolong LDG, visited the University of East Anglia to meet Vice Chancellor, Professor David Richardson.
Dr Han said: “I was pleased to meet Professor David Richardson VC and his team to unserstand how we can further our links with the University and hear about the exciting developments within their Faculty of Science. I look forward to following up the opportunities for cooperation we discussed at this meeting.
“Wolong is a global company with worldwide design platforms. We will utilise our resources worldwide with a focus on making the Laurence Scott business grow rapidly in the East of England.”
Professor Richardson said: “We are delighted by WOlong’s investment in the East of England. Their commitment to excellence and their ethos of combining regional and global interests chimes with that of the University of East Anglia.
“Wolong have already offered to provide internships for our students and there are also exciting opportunities for research and innovation. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration.”
