The New Anglia Transport Board is pleased to support National Lorry Week, promoting the wide range of careers available in the logistics sector.
There are thousands of career paths which support the process of moving goods, including drivers, planners, IT specialists, warehouse staff, administrators, accountants, architects, technicians and more.
The logistics sector employs about 48,000 people across Norfolk and Suffolk and with Freeport status recently granted to the ports at Felixstowe and Harwich that looks set to increase.
Steve Oliver, Chair of the Transport Board, said: “It’s great to see National Lorry Week promoting the diverse careers in the logistics sector.
“In recent months, we have witnessed many of the challenges this sector faces, with a shortage of drivers and supply chain difficulties leading to queues at petrol pumps and questions over availability of some produce. So it’s more important than ever that we support the sector, promote the opportunities available and help businesses to grow and develop.
“Developing a workforce for the future, supporting schools to promote a wide range of opportunities for all and ensuring we have the people needed to deliver growth for our region are all priorities of the Transport Board and the wider New Anglia LEP and partners.”
